Question
What strategies do you use when writing and formatting your answers on Quora?
Answer
None. I just wing it, stream-of-consciousness style. If I am browsing Quora (generally during an energy low) and some question happens to match my mood (happy, sad, vicious, satirical, whatever), I just write. I don't answer questions that take research beyond what I can get off the top of my head.
With AtAs, I apply the same approach. If I am in the mood, I answer.
I don't think it is worth over-thinking a "Quora strategy." Keep it as an idle-time activity to burn off excess energy that would otherwise be wasted on TV or something. It is a marginally more productive activity than TV, but not as good as taking a walk, doing a few pushups etc.
I can see myself getting more serious if Quora (both content and community) head in interesting directions. I recently met up with Tudor Achim for lunch (an employee) and got the sense that they are working seriously on making the game more interesting, rewarding etc. for people who like to write. If they succeed, well, I'll put more effort and conscious thought into this stuff.
