Question
What are some lifestyle changes that save money?
Answer
Been doing a lot of this lately.
1. Move to a cheaper city if you're renting and have the mobility. HUGE impact.
2. Learn to do small repairs. Can be quite entertaining in a MacGyverish way.
3. Spare parts! Americans often throw things away and replace when getting a spare part from the manufacturer is much cheaper.
4. I just gave up cable. Works out to about $100/month saved.
5. Always Google for coupons before buying unusual items online.
6. Make the same 7-8 recipes all the time. Huge food waste and inventory costs from making unusual things once. Just go out to eat for unusual things.
7. On the flipside learning to cook even a few things saves a lot.
8. Do NOT skimp on things that you use a lot, especially for productive/creative things or things that help you maintain those capacities (knives, computers, beds, work chairs, gym memberships). Yes, this is a way to save money. Conscous/unconscious workarounds for frequently used important things cost way more in the long run.
